Inspired by my children and named after my daughter, Henna Fashions is an online boutique that enables everyone to experience the exquisite beauty and style passed on from India, Pakistan, and other South Asian countries. As a mother and second generation South Asian, I wanted to provide my children the opportunity to explore their cultural heritage not only through food, music, and art, but also with clothes. The traditional clothing of South Asia is woven with threads made not only of silk and cotton but of hundreds of years of history. It is a history that can only be understood by wearing a sea blue lengha embroidered with silver thread or a vibrant pink shalwar kameez glittering with orange and gold beading!

Growing up in Ottawa, Canada, my family would return “home” regularly and I took for granted the easy access to these beautiful clothes. Later though, as a mother living in Boston, I found it nearly impossible to find traditional clothing for my children that was of high quality and still affordable. Many of my friends shared this problem and I decided if we couldn’t go back “home”, then I would bring “home” to us!
